Hello everyone! My name is Aurgho, and I’m a graduate of the MDCM program at McGill University, now continuing my training as a first-year Internal Medicine resident at McGill. My interest in PoCUS began early in medical school when we were first introduced to the tool, but my passion truly grew during clerkship as I saw its versatility across different specialties. I started attending PoCUS learning sessions with my peers to deepen my understanding, and before long, I found myself teaching those same sessions! Being a SonoRay instructor has been incredibly rewarding. It allows me to help others develop an appreciation for PoCUS while also reinforcing and expanding my own knowledge in the field. When I’m not holding a probe, you’ll probably find me with a frisbee or a camera somewhere around Montreal. I’m looking forward to seeing you at our next event!

Dr. Etienne Rousseau

Dr. Etienne Rousseau

Instructor

CPOCUS IPB.A.A

Hi, I’m Etienne. My path to ultrasound education wasn’t exactly a straight line, but I think that’s what makes my approach a bit different. Before diving into medicine, I spent my time as a Continuous Improvement Specialist with a degree in Business Administration. When I started med school at the Université de Montréal, I discovered ultrasound early on and it was an immediate "lightbulb" moment for me. I saw it as the ultimate tool for improvement in healthcare—a way to see more clearly, act more decisively, and ultimately, take better care of patients right at the bedside. That passion led me to get involved with the Groupe d’intérêt en ultrasonographie de l’Université de Montréal (GIUSUM), where I now serve as Co-President. My goal there, and as an instructor, is to take the "intimidation factor" out of the technology. I love helping students move past the technical hurdles so they can start using ultrasound for what it's meant for: making better clinical decisions.

Dr. Arianne Racine

Dr. Arianne Racine

Hi everyone! I’m Arianne, an incoming first-year Emergency Medicine resident. My interests in PoCUS focus on emergency medicine, procedures and resuscitation. I discovered my love for PoCUS at MTL SONO when an ER physician asked, “Is there a pleural effusion? Is this going to kill the patient? F*** yes or no.” That moment captured what I love most about PoCUS — its immediacy, impact, and clarity in clinical decision-making. I'm passionate about medical education and have been teaching PoCUS since completing my IP certification. Outside of medicine, you’ll find me swimming, running, at the gym or binging a new series. Excited to meet you at a bootcamp!

My name is Maïa Feki, and I am a third-year medical student at McGill University. I fell in love with POCUS during our introductory classes in first year, and even more so when I had to undergo an ultrasound myself. I wanted to understand everything that was happening, which inspired me to pursue my IP certification with Sonoray. Throughout my training, I had the privilege of learning alongside incredible physicians and fellow medical students. Their mentorship and passion made such an impact on me that I knew I wanted to give back by contributing to Sonoray’s mission once I was ready to teach. The one-on-one learning experience at Sonoray is truly unmatched. As a student, and now as an instructor, I continue to grow my skills while being part of an inspiring and supportive community. Teaching has become one of the most rewarding ways to deepen my own understanding while helping others discover the excitement and value of POCUS.

Dr. Emilie Ritch

Dr. Emilie Ritch

Instructor

MSc.MDCM

Hello everyone, my name is Emilie Ritch, a fourth year medical student at McGill, and IP certified POCUS instructor. My first exposure to ultrasound imaging was actually when I injured my hand after a biking accident a couple years back. At that time, observing the medical resident and staff radiologist complete the scan, discussing the picture on the screen, and highlighting the different pathologies they were able to see peaked my interest! When I started medical school, I was reintroduced to ultrasound, this time through POCUS sessions and knew that it was something I wanted to familiarize myself with further and be able to integrate into my future medical practice. Specifically, I appreciate being able to come up with a differential diagnosis based on the patients’ presenting symptoms and having POCUS ready at hand to help rule in or out your suspicions. Using POCUS to help guide your plan of action and prioritize in different settings is also something I am fond of. It allows for a more holistic approach to patient care and allows you to offer the best care to your patients. I have been working with SonoRAY throughout the entirety of my POCUS certification and instruction. What I most enjoy about SonoRAY is the team atmosphere. Everybody is there to help and guide one another. Through this approach, we are able to offer high quality evidence-based courses and ensure this standard is maintained when used in clinical practice, something which I highly regard!
